Alcoa Inc. acquired Republic Fastener Manufacturing Corp. and Van Petty Manufacturing from The Wood Family Trust.
Both companies—aerospace fastener manufacturers—are located in Newbury Park, Calif. Together they employ 240 people and had combined 2007 sales of $51 million.
Both companies become part of Alcoa Fastening System, a business unit of Alcoa, and a manufacturer of fastening systems, primarily for aerospace and commercial product assembly. Alcoa Fastening is headquartered in Torrance, Calif.
"As a result of this acquisition, we are adding much needed aerospace fastener capacity, and will have greater presence in new targeted markets where we see increasing demand for our products and services,” Olivier Jarrault, president of AFS, said.
